AdSense tip

"If you want to display House ads instead of Adsense ads, just make a Line Item with House priority.  Make sure your House Line Items has a high CPM so that it out competes Adsense.  Adsense and House Line Items compete against each other based on the CPM value."

Click Macro

A click macro is a code string that DFP Small Business offers to help you track clicks on your third-party ads.

You can use click macros in any of the following ways:
  • For HTML creatives, insert the macro before the clickthrough URL of the creative, and at the beginning of all action and HREF attributes.
  • For rich media creatives, most creative vendors will offer a placeholder in their tag to insert click macros. For more information about placing click macros properly in your third-party ads, please contact the vendor that created your ads.

Rich media creative doesn't track clicks

Verify that the creative works without a click macro. If it does, make sure that you're using DFP Small Business's click macros to track clicks.

If DFP Small Business recognizes your creative, click Insert macros and DFP Small Business will automatically insert the appropriate macros into your code snippet.

If DFP Small Business does not recognize your creative, click Manually insert macros.

For most third-party tags, you will use DFP Small Business's standard click macro. Click Insert click macro to insert %%CLICK_URL_UNESC%% into your tag .
If the clickthrough URL of your third-party tag contains special characters (e.g. '&', '?', '%'), click Insert escaped click macro to insert%%CLICK_URL_ESC%% into your tag.

If you're unsure where to place DFP Small Business's click macro in your tag, please follow these instructions.

To confirm that your click macro is working properly, click on your creative on the creative preview page. If your click macro is working properly, you will see an intermediate page confirming your click was recorded. If you do not see this page, please try using the alternate click macro in your tag.
